Raines Garth, Gigglewick - Sold Out

The start of the new year has seen the last of the Raines Garth Properties sold. The development comprised of 11 three bedroom houses in the village of Giggleswick and were highly sought after, with the last property being snapped up within days of its completion. The dwellings, whilst aesthetically sympathetic to their rural surroundings, concealed the latest innovations in technology to make each house as environmentally friendly as possible. One such innovation has been the installation of solar thermal panels. Work to construct further 3 and 4 bedroom mixed housing on an adjacent plot will start very shortly.

 

Farmers Boy Bradford

RN Woolers have been awarded a contract to construct a major £6.5 million extension to the Morrisons production facility at Farmers Boy in Bradford as part of their expansion programme. This facility forms part of their highly impressive food production estate. The project will take 32 weeks to complete, and will require careful programming so as to avoid disruption to the existing production lines that will continue to operate throughout the works.

The scheme comprises of piled foundations, steel frame and a mixture of masonry and composite cladding to form the superstructure. Internal alterations will reorganise existing food production lines will be facilitated with PIR wall panels and resin floors. The extension will also provide new engineering and plant facilities.

 

RN Wooler - Invests in its plant

Despite the industry experiencing tough trading conditions RN Wooler has decided to invest in the company's future with recent substantial orders for new plant, including two new telehandlers, a new JCB 13 tonne 360 excavator, a new 15 tonne wagon and over £250,000 of new transit vans.

 

 

RN Woolers & Fit 4 Free Partnership

Works have now finished converting existing premises into a new 'Fit 4 Free' gym at Kings Heath in Birmingham. 'Fit 4 Free' are an established fitness provider in Holland and are entering into the UK marketplace, offering low cost, fitness memberships at their gyms. RN Woolers are proud to have been appointed as Principle Contractor on the majority of Fit 4 Free's new gyms located in Liverpool, Bury, Worcester and now Birmingham. There are also exciting proposals for future locations currently at the planning stage.

Gary Sollitt - Contracts Director Appointment

The year ends on a high for Gary Sollitt. Gary joined the company 15 years ago as a site joiner. He has since risen up through the ranks from starting with us as a site joiner and progressing through the ranks to being a joinery foreman, then a Site manager, up to a Contracts manager, then our senior contracts manager and finally culminating in his appointment on the 21st December as 'Contracts Director'.

Morrisons Meadowhead

This innovative "lean" scheme involved the construction of a two storey "value engineered" extension to the front of the store and a single storey refrigerated store room extension to the rear and requiring meticulous planning and co-ordination to ensure normal uninterrupted customer access and minimal disruption to operations. It was an extremely complicated project, with at one 13 phases on-going throughout the store at one point. The resultant store was received with high praise from the client and design team. Morrisons - 'Store of the Future'

The in house Morrisons's team have now completed their latest batch of 6 more store conversions to the latest 'Store of the Future' format on the stores at Beverley, Anlaby, Skipton, Rotherham, Scarborough and Penrith. Extremely good feedback from architects, client and client nominated sub-contractors alike has been received, which would suggest the team could be pretty busy in 2013. Well done to all members involved, from foreman to labourer!. .

'And the award goes to - RN Wooler'

RN Wooler have been named as the winner of the 'Best Small Commercial Scheme' award by the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) North & East Yorkshire at the Building Excellence Awards 2012. The project consisted of the refurbishment of the historic grade II listed Talbot Inn Hotel in Malton; a 26 bedroom hotel originally constructed in the 17th century. Congratulations one and all!

Morrisons - 'Store of the Future'

After the very successful completion of works at the initial collection of Morrisons stores at Huddersfield, Darlington, Leyland, Thornbury, Stockton and Killingworth, RN Wooler have been awarded a further 6 stores to have the 'Stores of the Future' treatment and be upgraded to the new format by the end of the year. Time for an 'Upgrade'

Following a design, build and monitor trade period that lasted over 12 months, where RN Woolers worked closely with the Morrisons Retail design teams on the flagship Kirkstall store, a rebrand and refresh scheme was put in place to upgrade the Morrisons store network. Dubbed 'Store of the Future' and starting in January this year, RN Woolers are proud have been awarded 6 stores from an initial phase of 33, with all works anticipated to be completed by the end of May 2012.

Fitness 4 Free

An exciting new partnership has been formed between a new up and coming Fitness Club 'Fit 4 Free' and RN Woolers, which it is hoped will grow in the future as 'Fit 4 Free' expands across the country. The project involved the redevelopment of an existing retail unit into a new state of the art fitness gym, encompassing cardio areas, resistance training and dance/exercise studios. Works were undertaken in an environment of a busy shopping centre, requiring careful planning and co-ordination to complete the hectic construction programme within 7 weeks, ensuring no disruption to the centre, its retailers or customers.

'M' Kitchen

As part of the launching of the new 'M' range of meals and food products, Wm Morrisons Supermarkets instructed R N Woolers to construct them a state of the art 'Test Taste Kitchen' at their head office in Bradford. The kitchens comprised of 4 test kitchen stations, a Chef's Kitchen, a Tutor Kitchen, a 'Working Kitchen' and wine tasting area, as well as walk in refrigeration areas and adjoining meeting rooms. From this new 'M' Kitchen new food ranges will be developed and taste tested. The new kitchens were opened to great fanfare on the 3rd October, by Dalton Philips (Morrisons MD) and new head chef Neil Nugent.

Fenton Villas

Works have now concluded on the luxurious private dwelling at Fenton Villas. The proud owner of the property, moved into the spacious 4 bedroom house located in the beautiful heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Bespoke joinery staircase, wardrobes and bookcases adorn many of the rooms. A traditional cobbled sett driveway leads to a detach double garage, constructed sympathetically to compliment the house. Hard and soft landscaping surround the property, creating the illusion that the property has been a feature of the stunning landscape for many years.

Andrew Wooler - Coast to Coast the 'Hard Way'

Andrew Wooler has taken part in the 'Raid Pyrenean' challenge at the end of June on behalf of the charity, 'Sue Ryder Hospices'. The 720km cycle ride, crosses the Pyrenees, from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, in 100hrs, including 11000m of ascent up some of the toughest climbs in Europe.

Congratulations from everyone at Woolers for completing the physical feat. Not content with just completing the planned route, the riders were forced to take a slight detour, which added an additional 1000ft of climb to the journey. Project Norton

Project Norton - Castletown R N Wooler's have recently completed the conversion of 4 Netto Retail stores into new Morrisons Convenience Stores throughout the North East.
The schemes involved the major refurbishment of the stores, involving the construction of new Morrison's signature 'in store' market street preparation areas such as butchers and bakeries, additional walk-in refrigeration cold rooms and freezers, revitalisation of the shop floor layouts, major renovation to all the M & E facilities including sales floor refrigeration, and back of house store facilities, followed by final re-branding of the entire building.
The schemes required major co-ordination of almost 40 separate sub-contractors, to ensure that works were completed at each site within an extremely tight 2 week programme, with at least 2 stores being converted at any one time.

Washburn Heritage Centre

The Washburn Heritage Centre project is now complete. The scheme, blending the best in modern and contemporary design and construction techniques, was developed to complement the adjacent 17th Century church. Work was undertaken in a careful and sympathetic manner to ensure that the historically significant surroundings were not impacted upon, and the instructions of the employed archaeologist were fully implemented.

Morrisons Supermarkets PLC - Penrith

 

R N Wooler and Company have undertaken the partial reconstruction and full refurbishment of the Morrisons Supermarket in Penrith, after being devastated by an electrical fire in December 2009. During and in parallel to the reconstruction, planning was successfully sought for major extensions to the remains of the existing building. These extensions were seamlessly integrated into the existing construction programme, leaving a significantly larger pristine store, opened by Sir Ken Morrison CBE in September 2010.
